The fire broke out around 6:22 a.m. Wednesday at 4 Hilltop Road, in Norwalk, said the Norwalk Fire Department.
Arriving crews were met heavy fire showing from the gable end and the roof, the department said.
The fire, that was in the attic, caused the roof to collapse. In addition, there was smoke and water damage to the first and second floor, however, fire crews were able to protect the paintings and other valuables some being priceless.
All occupants managed to get out safely and there were no reported injuries, the department reported.
Five engines two truck companies and a rescue company responded with 30 men.
The fire marshal is still on scene to investigate and determine the cause.
According to Norwalk property records, the house, built in 1933, is owned by the estate of James and Joan Manning. It's appraised at $2,990,340.
